What are Veneers?

Veneers are a restorative treatment that can simultaneously fix your teeth’s size, shape, color, and spacing issues, restoring your confidence and quality of life. Simply put, veneers are thin pieces of porcelain or composite resin that are custom made to fit and adhere to your teeth. They are designed to appear extremely natural and attractive and can easily hide or “fix” stained, chipped, uneven, or spaced teeth.

Veneers can be made of porcelain, composite, or laminate, and depending on the material they are made of they can last anywhere from 4 to 25 years. Porcelain veneers can last up to 20-25 years, and alternatively, composite veneers, a less expensive option, may last up to 4 years with good care.

The entire porcelain veneer process takes place over the course of a few visits with Sun Dental. Your initial visit is to meet and discuss what you like and don’t like about your teeth, and to discuss how you would ideally like them to look.

During your second visit, we will prepare your teeth for the veneers by removing some of the enamel and buffering the surface. We will then make a mold of your teeth, and then the lab will construct your veneers.

Once your permanent veneers are ready, you’ll come in for your final visit and have them bonded to your teeth!
