Keep Your Teeth & Gums Healthy with Our Dentists in Lethbridge
Dental Cleanings
Regularly scheduled cleanings and proper home care are the best ways to prevent dental caries and periodontal disease. Our certified dental hygienists provide dental cleaning services including scaling, sealants and root planning. Your hygienist will also be a valuable resource for information and proper care techniques.
Dental X-Rays
Dental X-rays with digital radiography records images on a sensor, and they can be developed right away and lower your exposure to radiation. Sun Dental Group recommends a full series of full-mouth X-rays for new patients to detect a variety of dental problems early, including:
Bone loss
Tooth decay
Problems with the position of teeth & roots
Problems with tooth development
Abscesses, cysts or tumours
Cracks in the enamel & exposure of a tooth’s interior
Damage or infection below the gum line
Sealants
Using a safe form of plastic, dental sealants are applied to the tooth’s exterior, providing an effective barrier to cavities. Dental sealants are not permanent, but they remain intact, even on your teeth’s biting surface, for upwards of five years.
Periodontics
Healthy gums and jawbones are key components in Sun Dental’s periodontal program. We offer both surgical and non-surgical gum treatments to rejuvenate your oral health.
Fillings
Unfortunately, dental caries, such as cavities, happen to a vast majority of Canadians. On the fortunate side of things, we now have a whole host of dental filling options to prevent further decay and restore your tooth’s natural appearance. Types of dental fillings are known for particular characteristics and cost. Sun Dental Group four types of fillings, which include:
Composite: Strong, tooth-coloured, less sensitive to hot & cold
Amalgam: Non-aesthetic silver colour, risk of tooth fracture in large cavities
Porcelain: Tooth-coloured, strong, no sensitivity to hot & cold
Gold: Durable, expensive, non-aesthetic gold colour
Endodontics – Root Canals
When a pervasive cavity reaches the tooth’s nerve centre, also known as the tooth’s pulp, it can cause extreme pain. Sun Dental Group uses the rotary system from Tulsa Dental Specialties and Kerr® products for our root canal therapy. In some instances, an antibiotic may be used prior to treatment.
Crowns and Bridges
Sun Dental offers crowns and bridges to replace or repair your missing or damaged teeth. Crowns and bridges are fixed prosthetic devices cemented onto your existing teeth. Unlike dentures, they can only be removed by a dentist. A crown is used primarily to cover or “cap” a chipped or damaged tooth. A bridge is used to fill in the gap of one or more missing teeth.
