Top 10 Simple Tips for Oral Hygiene
It’s no secret that the general recommendation is to brush your teeth twice a day, but is that enough to ensure good oral hygiene and health?
We are breaking it down and simplifying things for you. Here are some of our top tips for keeping those pearly whites in tip top shape!
Brush at least 2x per day.
Use a soft bristled toothbrush.
Floss once per day, taking your time and cleaning between each tooth carefully.
Brush your tongue! Plaque can buildup on your tongue so give it a gentle brush each time you brush your teeth.
Rinse! Talk to your dentist for recommendations on what kind of mouthwash to use.
Carry a “toolkit” in your purse or bag just in case you need it throughout the day. Our recommendations include: toothbrush, travel size toothpaste, mouthwash, and dental floss.
Drink more water. H2O is the beverage of choice because it can help wash out some of the negative effects of sticky and acidic foods that can be left in your mouth between brushing. Try to drink a glass of water after each meal.
Limit sugary beverages and food. Sugar converts to acid in the mouth and can then erode the enamel on your teeth. This leads to cavities, so just be mindful of your sugar intake.
ALWAYS always brush before going to bed. This gets rid of germs and plaque that accumulate during the day.
Visit your dentist regularly. We recommend booking in twice per year for your cleaning and check ups!
