What is a Dental Assistant, and what do they do?

In the field of dentistry, Dental Assistants are important and valuable members of the team. We would be lost without them!

The dental assistant is essential to the smooth functioning of a dental practice. The assistant’s job responsibilities are many and varied, encompassing duties such as preparing patient records and equipment for each patient; sterilizing instruments; taking X-rays; mixing materials for use with patients; and aiding the dentist in procedures such as fillings, extractions and oral surgery.

The environment in a dental office is fast-paced and ever changing, so our Dental Assistants at Sun Dental are always prepared for anything! They take and active role in ensuring that the office and treatments are organized, rooms are prepped, and patient records are maintained.

Dental Assistants balance all of their duties in a smooth and effortless manner, and as team players they help in whatever is necessary to keep our office running smoothly!
